Mark Cousins — The Story of Looking

Mark Cousins, The Story of Looking (Canongate Books).

Good for

Not yet written up. The measured coverage below says what this book is dense on; the judgement about when to reach for it is still to come.

In the library

Held in Reel, the local research library of scanned and indexed film books. 30 parts, 1,823 indexed passages. No page numbers in this scan.

This scan carries no page numbers, so it cannot be cited by page — quote it as sol and locate the passage by searching. (Reflowable sources such as EPUBs have no fixed pagination to record.)

Strongest on

Measured, not guessed. Each figure is how much denser this book is on a concept than the library average — so common words don't crowd out real specialisms.

• Colour — 3.8× the library average (120 passages)
• Lighting — 2.2× the library average (163 passages)
